The aveda institute of Los Angeles offers a unique learning environment in cosmetology through hands-on, real-world experience. aveda, located in westwood, california, inspires students to exceed expectation and seek lifelong learning beyond the traditional classroom. Aveda promotes the concept that education encompasses more than learning basic technical skills. Our cosmetology curriculum is specifically designed to prepare beauty school students for the state licensing examination and allow them to learn the technical, personal and business skills necessary to work in a professional salon environment.

Earth Month

Earth Month is here and that means that Aveda Institute Los Angeles is buzzing with activity. Join us for one of our events listed below!

Earth Month

Aveda’s April 2012 Earth Month campaign will inspire its network of beauty professionals and consumers in more than 30 countries to raise $4.5 million for the protection of clean water — a basic human right that nearly 900 million people worldwide fight for daily. In support of achieving this goal the Aveda Institute Los Angeles has organized a number of events to raise funds for our Earth Month partner.

EARTH MONTH 2012 PARTNER

This years Earth Month partner is Surfrider Foundation.

Surfrider Foundation is a volunteer based non-profit environmental grassroots organization dedicated to the protection and enjoyment of our world’s oceans, waves and beaches for all people, through conservation, activism, research and education. The West LA/Malibu Chapter represents 31 miles of coastline from Ballona Creek to LA county line and inland.

Fundraising Events

EARTH JAM FASHION SHOW BENEFIT
Hauns Korpela of Scott J Salon, NY, NY, together with the Aveda Institute Los Angeles Student/Educator Team, will sponsor a Fashion Night Benefit Tuesday, May 1, 6 pm at the Skirball Cultural Center, 2701 N. Sepulveda Blvd.  Institute students and Korpela will present a runway show that will showcase “Color reVISIONed.”

JEANS FOR GREEN
For a $5 donation, Institute students and staff wear jeans during March, April, and May to raise funds for our Earth Month partner. Guests may also purchase a variety of Earth Month items, including a Light the Way candle. All donations benefit Surfrider Foundation.

TIP FOR A CAUSE
In lieu of tips for services donations will be accepted in any amount to benefit Surfrider Foundation. All donations go directly to Surfrider Foundation.

BEAUTY FOR THE EARTH
On April 11, the Aveda Institute Los Angeles will hold its annual “Beauty for the Earth” fundraising event, during which guests receive complimentary hair and nail services. Donations of any amount will be accepted for the free services offered this day.
